The ‘Real’ Has Left The Building
It’s hard to know what’s real these days. Or rather, whose items and articles are to be perceived as real? Unemployment claims increased by almost two million more this week; Thursday’s report. Then on Friday, magically, the new jobs added were over two million for what Trump called, “the best month ever”, or something to that effect. Reality has left the building this week.
Enter unrest. The nice way to put it. We also had riots with looting, and fires, cracked skulls by cops, journalists attacked for doing their jobs, all kinds of destruction by various parties that have had enough of the authoritarian repression that’s taken over the country this century. I haven’t seen this much unrest since the ‘60’s. Only today we get to see it in all it’s vainglory ugliness. The ubiquitous smart-phones gives almost everyone a camera. And cop violence is being recorded for all to see.
Enter global warming. It’s hot here in Albuquerque this week. We are having July temperatures here in the first week of June. Along with all the other more pressing matters of the c-virus pandemic, cops murdering blacks at alarming rates, unrest turning into real riots, some caused by cops themselves, Wall Street looting the Fed, and the government adding $trillions to keep a shaky market[which is doing quite well] afloat with the CARES bill; actual Americans are suffering under all the oppression of an authoritarian government that doesn’t give a shit about its people. Global poisoning/warming is accelerating. Something has to give. And soon too I reason.
I’m actually a bit scared about the immediate future. Besides my cancer screen next week, the present is in such disarray that the future is hard to predict. Anything on TV is the Disneyland, La La Land, version of actual reality. In fact it’s so hard to tell what’s real from the false that I get confused from all the conflicting narratives I find on the ‘net. I do know that things are happening at alarming rates. Americans are waking up from the slumbering spell that Neo-liberalism has been casting for over 40 years.
Of course debt now controls what people can express. It’s purposeful that way. Debt=control. Militarized cops also =control. Then add impunity for any cop action into the mix, and voila, riots. The economic strife from the lock-down has freed many to take to the streets, c-virus be damned. I’ll leave it to my readers to watch all the videos of cops behaving badly out there on the ‘net. Even today, Sunday, June ’07, has seen lots of protests and demonstrations, even as I write this. Maybe all this pressure will get a response from Congress. Maybe not, they are all pretty dense. The wealthy ones won’t have a clue, or want to do anything along the way.
Where to from here do we go? I’m guessing the market will keep the investor class happy until it collapses altogether. Then we will all see profound changes if/when the dollar loses its worldly status as the reserve currency. China is then sure to take over after that. And wild speculations — which I’m refraining from now— are as crazy as the ones I would like to posit forth. One is as good as the other at this time.
So keep watch on things as I’m surely doing. And stay safe, You all don’t need cracked skulls like that poor old man in Buffalo, NY. Left on the pavement with a cracked skull and bleeding as other cops walked casually by as if nothing was going on. Pity it’s come down to this. Peace, The Ol’ Hippy
